Meet Our New Summer Associate, Abby Oberbeck

We are excited to welcome Abby Oberbeck to Strauss Troy as a 2026 summer associate. A student at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, Abby was drawn to the legal field because of her interest in tackling complex problems and helping people navigate challenging situations. We asked her a few questions so you can get to know her a little better:

What drew you to law school and the legal field?
I was drawn to law school because I like digging into complex problems that do not have simple answers. I like the challenge of understanding complex issues while also helping people navigate them.
What areas of law are you most interested in exploring right now?
Family law, employment law, and estate planning
What made you want to spend your summer with our firm?
Strauss Troy has all the practice areas of a big law firms but is still small enough to where you can really get to know everyone and establish valuable relationships. Strauss Troy offered every practice area I was interested in and values personal connections among its attorneys and staff.
What are you hoping to learn or experience during your time here?
I’m hoping to find a practice area I really enjoy and develop meaningful connections with the people here.
Any academic, leadership, or personal accomplishments you’re especially proud of?
I’m on the University of Cincinnati Law Review and my article is getting published soon in the upcoming volume publication.
What do you like to do outside of law school?
I like reading, especially mystery novels. I also like to travel. This past spring break I went to France and Spain.
Favorite food or go-to local restaurant?
Pep & Dolores
Describe your ideal weekend.
My ideal weekend is pretty low-key, just having time to relax. I enjoy reading, getting together with friends/family, or going out to get some food.
Fun fact or something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I have lived in 4 states (Missouri, Texas, Ohio, and Kentucky)
We’re glad to have Abby with us this summer and look forward to seeing her continue to grow as she gains hands-on experience across different areas of the law.
