James D. Houston has been selected as a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, an international organization of civil defense attorneys who are recognized leaders in the legal community.

Founded in 1936, the FDCC is composed of approximately 1400 recognized leaders in the legal community who have achieved professional distinction. Membership requires a rigorous selection process and is by nomination only. Members are dedicated to promoting knowledge, fellowship and professionalism and include corporate counsel, industry executives and practicing lawyers engaged in the defense of claims for insurance companies and corporations. The group offers members opportunities to interact with and learn from nationally recognized lawyers in multiple jurisdictions across the country.

James Houston, a Strauss Troy shareholder, focuses his practice on construction and complex commercial litigation, surety law and OSHA compliance and claim defense. James also assists clients with their labor and employment needs. He has represented contractors, design professionals, employers, sureties and business owners in both arbitration and traditional trial court settings (including actions for emergency injunctive relief). He has also successfully defended employers against various wrongful death and discrimination claims. James also assists his clients with contract drafting and negotiation.
