On March 20, Strauss Troy sponsored the Dan Beard Council Boy Scouts of America 2014 Trailblazer Luncheon held at Drees Pavilion in Covington. More than 300 guests attended in support of local Boy Scout programs. During the luncheon, Dr. G. Edward Hughes, president of Gateway Community and Technical College, received the 2014 Trailblazer Award for his commitment to the Northern Kentucky community and Wesley Brown, Trailblazer District Eagle Scout, was the featured Scout speaker. This annual luncheon benefits programs for more than 4,000 local Northern Kentucky Scouts.
The Dan Beard Council Boy Scouts of America provides a youth-development program for more than 35,000 Scouts. The organization helps young people build character, teaches them ethical and moral standards and develops personal health and fitness. Scouts learn teamwork, develop integrity and participate in new opportunities. Scouting builds a foundation of leadership for the youth of our community by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.
A Scout is:
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly,
Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful,
Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent
