Senior Collection Paralegal

Job Responsibilities:

  • Will compose and issue standard commercial and consumer collections letters (where applicable according to the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).
  • Be responsible for preparing collection pleadings from inception of the case to the enforcement of judgments, in accordance with the FDCPA, Rules of Civil Procedure, and local court procedures.
  • Will involve receiving, posting, and recording debtor payments into the system.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as the job duties will necessitate regular communication with clients regarding deposit reports, bankruptcies, payments, insurance, etc.
  • Regularly communicate with courts, banks, title companies, employers, debtors, and attorneys regarding payoffs, settlements, fees, and costs.
  • Monitoring of judgment lien renewal dates and be able to process accordingly.
  • Have a working knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping in order to efficiently verify and implement interest rate calculations.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel is needed.

  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail; dependable, punctual, and accountable.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
  • Comfortable working independently, with minimal supervision, as a professional representative of the law firm to all counties and municipalities in the region.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and administrative procedures in counties and municipalities served.
  • Excellent organizational, communications, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, professionally, and directly with our team of attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, outside organizations, and especially with our valued clients.

Other Aspects of this Position:

  • Position offered is ideally full time, primarily Monday through Friday business hours. A candidate’s preference for a part-time schedule will be considered based on other factors and experience noted.
  • Position involves extended periods of sitting, use of computers, and close, color-vision, depth perception, and focus demands.
