Elizabeth M. Reeder
ShareholderElizabeth M. Reeder focuses her practice on representing privately-held multigenerational businesses and families. She counsels individuals and businesses from start-ups to established, regional companies. Her diverse client base includes entrepreneurs in the high-tech, real estate, healthcare, manufacturing, and automotive industries, among others. Liz spends much of her practice working with clients on business succession and navigating the unique business, tax, estate, and family issues inherent in such transitions. Liz also assists her clients with choice of entity issues, mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and venture capital, intellectual property, taxation, and general business law. She is a Business Law Fellow of the American Bar Association and was recognized by the Northern Kentucky Chamber as a Next Generation Leader in the category of Legal Services in 2018. Liz is a frequent speaker for bar associations and employer groups on corporate, tax, and estate planning developments.
Liz works with clients crafting their estate plans, including drafting wills, powers of attorney, living wills, family and charitable trusts, trust private settlement agreements, and business succession planning. She works with families who need simple planning to high-net-worth clients requiring complex estate and gift planning. She is experienced in probate estate administration in Kentucky and Ohio, settling and administering estates, ancillary administrations, and guardianships and conservatorships. Liz serves as Co-Chair of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association.
In addition, Liz counsels clients on a wide range of technology and intellectual property issues, including trademark and copyright registration, licensing agreements, website terms of service and startup services for technology companies. She advises small businesses on tax credits, appropriate entity taxation elections, and sales and use tax issues and counsels non-profit corporations and tax-exempt entities on governance, charitable giving issues, and applicable tax exemptions.
A lifelong resident of Northern Kentucky, Liz is committed to serving her community. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Covington Business Council and the Covington Business Council Foundation. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and is a Trustee of the Northern Kentucky Bar Foundation. She is a graduate of the 2016 Class of Leadership Northern Kentucky. Liz is also proud to serve on the Board of Directors at Strauss Troy.
