Join Us for A Beginner’s Guide to Reasonable Accommodations: The Kentucky Pregnant Workers Act and More

Join Strauss Troy attorney Theresa Nelson as she discusses reasonable accommodations for employees pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (the “ADA”) and the new Kentucky Pregnant Workers Act (the “Act”) (effective June 27, 2019). The Act requires all Kentucky employers with 15 or more employees to provide reasonable accommodations for an employee’s pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions.

The Act expands “reasonable accommodations” to include those specific to pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions, such as:

  • Breaks
  • Time off work
  • Equipment
  • Job restructuring
  • Private space for lactation

Kentucky employers have 30 days after the effective date of the Act to provide employees with written notice of their right to be free from discrimination and the right to reasonable accommodations related to pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions. Join Ms. Nelson and make sure your company is up to date on the new requirements in the Act and ready by the July 27 deadline.
