Attorney Joe Braun, a shareholder at Strauss Troy, has been hired to replace retiring Miami Township Law Director John Korfhagen.

Administrator Larry Fronk said hiring Braun now as an assistant will “provide a smooth transition. Beginning Jan. 1, Mr. Braun will become the next law director.”

“You are now officially part of the team,” Trustee Mary Makley Wolff told Braun.

Joe Braun, a resident of Miami Township, and has a great deal of municipal experience in other communities. “I’m looking forward to putting that knowledge to work in my own community,” he said.

He said he has worked as assistant solicitor for the cities of Loveland and Wyoming and has done special legal work for other communities. Braun also serves as president of the Clermont County Public Library board of trustees.

He is a partner in the law firm of Strauss Troy, which employs 46 attorneys in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

As part of the contract with Miami Township, other attorneys at Strauss Troy will be available to provide legal expertise in areas such as labor law and real estate, Braun said.

“I know the township will benefit from our new partnership,” he said of his association with Strauss Troy.

Fronk said township officials received about 20 applications for the law director job. A panel made up of Fronk and the three trustees interviewed seven of the candidates.

Fronk said they choose Braun because, “he’s an excellent attorney, he’s a resident of Miami Township and his association with Strauss Troy gives up access to other attorneys for special cases.”

“John Korfhagen leaves huge shoes to fill,” Braun said.
